Newspaper Article
This is a newspaper article I had to do because we were supposed to have a school newspaper, but that never happened.

Speakers
For our class we had to make a commercial about a product that we "made" so me and my partner came up with speakers (even though that's already a thing)

Dan Eldon
Dan Eldon: Dying To Tell a Story
Robert Cappa once
said “You can’t hide behind your camera because as you look through it, you get
closer to the person you photograph.” Most people would call photojournalists
crazy but sometimes they really help open our eyes to what’s happening in the
world. And a lot of the photo journalists come back from the warzone that they
are taking pictures in very traumatized. Amy Eldon created a short film for her
brother, Dan Eldon who was a photojournalist that was stoned to death by an
angry mob while on his way back home.
The journalists who go out to the warzones are not crazy, at least I
think they’re not because that’s their own choice to go out and risk their
lives to capture what’s going on in the real world. Some of them are heroes
because sometimes they expose all of the terrible things that are either
happening in the USA or that are not even happening in the country while
risking their lives doing it. By risking their lives they save other people by
taking pictures/videos. But then civilian journalism they risk their lives even
MORE because they can get arrested for taking videos and posting them on the
internet, they grab the attention of people around the world to show them
“Here’s what is happening” and “Look what’s going on in our country.”
Also some of them are not heroes because
not all things need to be exposed and they’re snooping into situations that
need to be left alone, it’s not their business. Some of them feel like they
need to take pictures because it’s important. Christiane Annonpone said “There
are certain people that have to do certain things.” Apparently he did an
important thing. Then Martin Bell said that “He felt ashamed for not taking
risks like he should. Felt useless that what he was doing wasn’t making any
difference.” Sometimes, people don’t want their business exposed to the world
news if it’s bad or not. But I personally think if it’s nothing good, go for
it. Go take photos or do whatever that grabs the world’s attention.
I honestly think that Amy Eldon
sort of did the right thing about going to find out what exactly happened to
her brother, she only knew that he died and wanted the specific details on why
he died and how. I think that was very brave of her, most people wouldn’t even
bother finding out what happen. Also I like the fact that she went to interview
the people that her brother were close to or the people that her brother was on
the trip with AKA the other journalists.
One of the stories that
are inspirational is Don McMullen’s, He said “If I’m no Robert Cappa at least I
got close.” “When you look through the camera you feel even closer to the
person you’re shooting.” “Tries to show things as hard as they are, as real as
they are.” I think that quote should inspire people because basically he’s
saying that it doesn’t matter if you not as good as Robert Cappa. What should
matter is the event that you are capturing
